Do you know the problem with asking successful people for
advice? They don't always know why they're successful - but they'll
give you reasons anyhow.
Don't Listen To Success -
Model It
A wealthy real estate investor once told me he didn't believe
in setting goals. Later in the conversation I realized that he
knew just where he expected to be with his projects in six months.
He was setting goals - he just called it something else.
The lesson? Don't do as they say, but do as they
do.
Of course you should listen to what successful people have
to say - but read between the lines. Look at their words for
insight into how they think about things, how they approach their
challenges. A successful basketball player may advise you to
practice more, but if he mentions "I saw that going in,"
after a great shot, you need to start visualizing your shots
going in.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is covered in Chapter 8
of You Aren't Supposed To Know. You'll find a fuller
explanation of "modeling," and other powerful techniques
for changing yourself quickly and effectively.
Secrets of Cheap Insurance
When I had no assets to protect, and I drove only older cars,
I asked for the legal minimum insurance coverage for my cars.
I discovered that for many years, Allstate Insurance had charged
me for a policy with their "company minimums," not
the legal minimums. This is just one of the tricks insurance
companies use.
Here are 4 of 32 insurance secrets in Money Saving Secrets,
a bonus you'll get with the e-book:
1. Don't let your policy lapse. I sold my car once,
and then let the policy lapse because I hadn't yet bought another.
When I finally bought a car, the cost for a six-month liability
policy had gone from $167 to $400 because of my lapsed policy.
Keep your policy active if you will be buying again soon, or
cancel it, but don't let it lapse.
2. Get paid for diminished value. After an accident,
be sure the insurance pays what it should. "Diminished value"
is often not paid unless you push the point, but a car loses
value from being in a wreck, even after repairs.
3. Remove kids from policy. If the kids are at a college
that's more than 100 miles away, you can have them taken off
the insurance policy and save a lot of money. You can't let them
drive the car when they come home to visit though.
4. Raise the deductible to lower rates. If you can't
afford the first $500 of an accident, you should rearrange your
financial life.
(Life insurance, and health insurance are covered in the bonus
book as well.) See you next lesson,
Steve
P.S. Next lesson: Lying eyes and a trick for tracking
people down. In other words, another little taste of what you
will get in the book You Aren't Supposed
To Know.

Would it surprise you to learn that government officials,
doctors, businesses, and reporters are lying to you? Probably
not. They do it for profit, control, votes, or to be more important.
With this book you'll start to see through their lies. In fact,
learning the truth covered in Lie # 1 will save you ten times
